Nelson Hardiman Implements BillingQ

Healthcare boutique firm running ProLaw delivers drill-down client/matter financial information to attorneys and saves three days every month in their billing cycle.

Nelson Hardiman is a 20-attorney healthcare boutique law firm in Los Angeles, CA. The firm is consistently recognized for their expertise and superior workplace culture by The Legal 500 Leading Firms, U.S. News Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and more.

Gina Martin, Executive Director, was looking for a better way to get client/matter financial information to attorneys. Previously, she would have to tell a partner, “Sometimes, you need to do a wildcard search, or you can’t find what you’re looking for because you aren’t exact. Then, go into inquiry, then find the A/R. Most will give up before they can find how much the client owes us.”

Gina chose BillingQ to solve this problem, appreciating the user experience designed to make it easy for attorneys who don’t spend all day in the firm’s billing system. “Now, they can just type in whatever they know, find the matter, and see the information visually.” Drill-down dashboards enable attorneys to get direct answers to their questions without sending report requests to the accounting department. “Very few clicks to get everything they need – way easier.”

We love ProLaw, but needed a better user experience for the attorneys and their assistants. The combination of BillingQ and ProLaw has given the firm exactly the solution they needed.

Although dashboards drove Gina’s decision to implement BillingQ, there was another significant benefit: billing workflows. “That has become a big positive for us because now, instead of us manually emailing statements out individually, they get sent via an automated workflow. It’s saved our accounting department a lot of time.”

Another benefit is getting paid: “The second thing that was a big plus for billing was ACH and credit card payments. We’re seeing a lot more client use of electronic payments now.”
